  • Personal details including your name, your employer’s name, school name, contact details.
  • Information about your activities on our website and about the device you use to access it.
  • Any other information you may choose to send us.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

 

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

 

  • To arrange a mentoring relationship with a mentor or mentee.
  • For mentors and mentees to attend career workshops organised by Career Accelerator Limited or the employer companies.
  • For mentees to arrange internship opportunities with employer companies.
  • With your agreement to use your data/name in case studies / impact reports.

 

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

 

  • From your school administrator or employer company network coordinator.
  • Enquiries made by you through our website.

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

 

  • To arrange a mentoring relationship with a mentor or mentee.
  • For mentors and mentees to attend career workshops organised by Career Accelerator Limited or the employer companies.
  • For mentees to arrange internship opportunities with employer companies.
  • Respond to your enquiries and requests.
  • Provide you with information about specific areas of interest that you sign up to receive.
  • Conduct due diligence.
  • Deal with enquires and complaints made by or about the use of your data.

We may share this information with:

 

  • Employer companies and school administration involved in the mentoring programmes.
  • Civil & Corporate (www.civilandcorporate.co.uk) for DBS checks for mentors working with young persons below 18 or vulnerable adults.

 

We will never sell or rent your information to third parties for marketing purposes. However we may disclose your information to third parties in connection with other legitimate purposes as set out in this policy. These third parties may include:

 

  • suppliers and sub-contractors; Eventbrite; Mailchimp; Surveymonkey, who may process information on our self.
  • analytics and search engine providers.
  • IT service and website support providers.
  • venues that host Career Accelerator events (for security and registration purposes).

 

In addition, we may disclose your personal information:

 

  • to the extent that we are required by law;
  • in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings;
  • in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purpose of fraud prevention, reducing credit risk and meeting our Safeguarding duties.
  • to any person who we reasonably believe may apply to a court or other competent authority for disclosure of that personal information where, in our reasonable opinion, such court or authority would be reasonably likely to order disclosure of that personal information.

  • We rely on legitimate interest as the lawful basis on which we collect and use your personal data. Our legitimate interests are to for the public benefit, the promotion of career opportunities for diverse young persons between the age of 14-18, and LGBT+ young adults aged 18-30.

How we store your personal information

 

Your information is securely stored.

We limit access to your personal information to those who have a genuine business need to know it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

Career Accelerator has appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidently lost, or used or accessed in an unauthorised way.

We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.

How long Career Accelerator retains your personal information

 

We will keep your personal information for five years after our last interaction with you. Once this period has expired, we will delete your information from all of our systems. For more details on this, please email mayur@careeraccelerator.io.
